    Great investment
I had a pretty bad pinched nerve giving me the "electric shock" like sensastions when you touched b/w the shoulder blades. After using this for 3-4 weeks that pain in my shoulder (precipated by a car accident months earlier) has left. I still have some neck/back issues but this powerful traction device really removed the constant pain by my shoulder blade and the "electric shock" sensation. It has also really imporved my range of motion (I had difficulty looking to my left and that is pretty much fine now). On the other hand I found the instructions for this equipment to be pretty abysmal so if you are not in contact w/ a physican or medical professional who can advise you of the right settings (angles, pressue pounds, length of time you should use it) you could do some inital harm. There was also a warning note w/ the equipment that seemed to suggest it required a perscription (though I ordered w/ out one) but the company I ordered from confirmed over the phone a perscription was not required (maybe it should be?) All in all once I got that hang of it this machine did alot to imporve my quality of life and lessen my symptoms. They can still recur but this gives me alot of relief.

    Great Saunders Cervical Traction Unit
If you are having any neck problems (C1 through C7), you will want to buy a Saunders unit. The idea is to lay down placing your head between 2 self adjusting rubber bumpers and placing a velco strap over your forehead. Then you will want to start pumping it up to about 15 or 20 pounds to start with. You will feel the unit start stretching your head from your tail bone. Don't lift your bottom up while your are stretching or you will have to start over again (this releases some of the pumped up air in the unit). So maintain a restful position without moving around too much. It is no big problem, it is just that you might look down at your gauge and see the it the poundage is going down and you may wonder why that is happening. Once you understand this you won't have any problem. Remember the 2 most important parts that shouldn't move are your head, which is taken care of by the Saunders Unit, and of course, your bottom which is your job to do. I love my unit and couldn't do without it.

When you pump up the unit, the cylinder underneath is physically sliding your head up, on a rail, until it reaches the desired pressure/stretch. Your can't get this type of weight and benefit by using an over the door unit. I know one friend of mine that uses 40 to 50 pounds almost everyday to keep his pain away. I only need around 20 pounds for my mine and I only need to use it maybe 2 to 3 times a week. I guess I am lucky that way. I couldn't get any relief using the over the door method.

    Item great, UPS delivery horrible
The Cervical Home Traction is perfect - as advertised.
UPS delivery was terrible. Turns out it required a signature and strangely I work! Had to drive to UPS office after 3rd delivery attempt despite calling.

    Very happy with this purchase
I rarely write reviews, but since I saw only 6 reviews on this product, I wanted to add my opinion.

Overall it has been very helpful. I have tried virtually everything for cervical disk disease (spondylosis) that causes muscle spasm and pain - PT, massage, muscle relaxants, over-the-door traction, the inflatable traction neck brace/pillow, accupuncture, steroid injection, even botox injection. Nothing has had a lasting effect thus far except for this product and an inversion table.

It is well designed and relatively comfortable for what it does. It can create good gradual pressure that is reproducible. The first day I over did-it and that caused muscle spasm the next day but subsequently i keep the pressure below 30 and find I am in pain much less during the day, require less other medication, etc. It was worth the price for me. I wish I would have found it years ago.

    This Machine ROCKS!
I've been dealing with some neck issues for some time now, and my physical therapist recommended traction. I tried it and after the second or third treatment I was pretty well hooked on it as a way to make my neck feel better without drugs. The problem was I could only see the PT once or twice per week. He recommended this and although somewhat skeptical of the cost, it is worth every penny! Knowing what I know now, I would probably have spent $200 - $300 more for it - small cost when you weigh cost of lost work, cost of PT/physicians' visits, and tons of OTC pain killers! If you have neck issues, obviously talk to a doc and/or PT first, but if they think you can benefit from home traction, this is the unit to buy! Your insurance may even cover it - mine did after a bit of wangling.
