Nice magnifier
Good piece of equipment. The lights are not very bright but the hand band is comfortable and the lenses are clear.
Economy magnifier with light
Item optically fine, but weight of batteries makes the lens portion sag down over face. Side hinge friction not adjustable to control this.
So far this is great!
I haven't used it much, but it is a godsend for hands-free magnification, especially with the price! Everything is tight and holds where I place it. I have no complaints!!!
Poor engineering and shoddy craftsmanship
I purchased this product as an inexpensive way to view soldering projects for fine work and have been sorely disappointed.
Headband
The headband and visor are made of the same type of plastic with a type of snap button to hold the band to the visor. With no means of tightening these, when batteries are inserted into the light system the friction is overcome by weight and the visor can fall completely on your nose.
Lenses
The lenses are plastic with stated ratings of 1.8x, 2.3x and 4.8x if you include the small drop down on the outside, but testing shows this to be much weaker, especially without the outer one. The outer lens can be swapped for left eyed-dominant people, but extreme care must be taken. The screws used to hold the lenses in place use the lenses themselves as securing points. The plastic is so thin near the edges that even slight tightening can crack or break them, ruining the entire item.
Finally, in order to gain focus, items had to be within an inch or two of the glasses themselves, and magnification was moderate at best, poor at worst. Few details could be picked out that the eye couldn't see normally.
Side Lights
There are actually two separate lights, one on each side with two separate switches. Either one or both can be removed via two screws on the inside of the band. Though shown with LEDs, mine came with standard incandescent lights. Also, the light positions were not adjustable, meaning when an item was in focus, the light was not on that focus point, but outside it to the left or right.
All in all this product is a waste of time and money. For anyone looking for a hands free option, money would be better spent on a higher quality pair or a lighted magnifying glass on an arm.
Lighted Headband Magnifier
The item is just okay. I believe there is a much better one of the same kind.
